I have to be honest – when I write these posts in my journal, they sound so much more important and witty. They are not witty or important.
- I found that ChatGPT is beneficial during Bible class when I can’t come up with the correct answer to a question. It’s the “chemo brain” that makes my mind very mushy, at times. So, during class, someone asked if there were any Baptisms before John the Baptist performed his baptism in the Jordan River. Of course, there were ceremonial washings in the history of Israel. Could I think of one of them? No. Typing into the chatbot, it generated a list that included Old Testament ritual washings and the Jewish mikvah baths, which pointed us to John’s Baptisms, and, of course, the Baptisms we perform today.
- It is hard for people to accept that I don’t have cable or any of their cousins, what I call cable-lite (Fubo, DirecTV Stream, YouTube TV). However, when I explain to them how I pay for subscription services, it sounds like I pay a substantial amount each month to watch streamed television shows and movies. People look at me like I’m crazy. So I learned today that I should keep it simple. “No, I don’t have cable. It costs too much money, and I get nothing out of it. I miss the Yankees, but thankfully I can listen to them on the radio.” I could shell out $25 a month to watch them via their Gotham Sports Network. But that’s a lot of money. And I get highlights of the games as they happen on X and the next day, in the Apple TV+ app, where I (sometimes) watch a rundown of the previous night’s baseball games.
- About a month ago, I bought a Flaus, an electric flosser. Yes, electric flosser. Until that contraption came, I hated flossing. Getting to my back teeth with floss wrapped around my fingers is painful to my fingers. So, I didn’t floss many nights. However, I tend to lie to my dentist when he asks me if I floss. Now, I can’t lie – using the Flaus makes flossing easy and a joy to do. I’ve never said that publicly before, so I learned to be truthful on something as important as flossing.
